Willy received his Business degree (EMBA) from the Business Academy Munich, Germany. He held various positions in the German construction industry over several years. In 1977, Willy joined the former Helicopter Division of Messerschmitt-Boelkow-Glohm (MBB), in Munich, Germany and was Controller until 1984. Following the incorporation in March of 1984 of MBB Helicopter Canada Limited in Fort Erie, Ontario, Willy was appointed Vice President Finance and Administration. MBB and Aerospatiale of France merged their helicopter divisions in 1992 to form a new company, Eurocopter, and in 1993, Willy was appointed President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Eurocopter Canada Limited. In 1999 he assumed the position of Vice-Chairman. After many years in the aerospace industry he decided to change his career and in 2004 joined DONRO Financial.

Mr. Heidbuechel has been a long-time Director of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, and served on the Executive Committee as Honorary Secretary and Treasurer. He is a Past-Director of the Ontario Aerospace Council, and served there for 10 years as Secretary/Treasurer on the Executive.

Willy is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee of Brock University, and has recently been re-elected to the position of Vice Chair. He is the Chair of the Planning, Finance and Human Resources Committee, Chair of the Investment Committee, and serves on the Pension Committee of the university.

Willy is a long-time member of the Rotary Club St. Catharines Lakeshore and currently holds the office of President.
